Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Visiting

is an evidence-based  program designed to promote the early development, learning, and health of children to you, the parent.

With the PAT Home Visiting Program, from birth through kindergarten, parents are equipped with knowledge and resources to prepare their child for a stronger start in life and greater success in school. FRCSCV offers Home Visiting as an individualized parent support and education in the home.  

FRCSCV Parent Educators provide age-appropriate child development information, parent-child play ideas, developmental screenings, and opportunities for parents to discuss parenting topics.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Visiting Annual Affiliate Reports

Key findings:

  • 99% of the families served have at least 1 family stressor – State of WI is at 91%
  • 47% of the families FRCSCV served have 4+ family stressors – State of WI is at 31%
  • 14.6% of FRCSCV’s population is Hispanic or Latino – State of WI is at 26% 
  • FRCSCV had 132 total Group Connections  – State of WI average is 24 per site
  • 76% of 19–35-month-old children reported being up to date with immunizations  – State of WI is at 74%

Home Visiting is Delivered by Trained Professionals

The PAT evidence-based model is delivered by a FRCSCV Parent Educator who follow the essential requirements of the model, which provide minimum expectations for program design, infrastructure and service delivery. 

There are four dynamic components to PAT Home Visiting

  • Personal Visits
  • Group Connections
  • Resource Network
  • Child and Caregiver Screening

Together, they form a comprehensive set of services with seven goals/outcomes:

  • Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve positive parenting practices
  • Provide early detection of developmental delays and connection to services
  • Improve parent, child and family health and well-being
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect
  • Increase children’s school readiness and success
  • Improve family economic well-being
  • Strengthen community capacity and connectedness
